Very few women sail through menopause without experiencing some if its unwelcome symptoms. Mid-life can be a challenging time, as we find our roles change and we may find ourselves in bodies that behave in ways we don't recognise.
However, menopause can also be a fantastic opportunity for exploration by taking care of your health and wellbeing. How would you like this next phase of your life to look?
From our 40's, our muscle mass and bone density starts to decline and this decline increases during menopause so it's important to try and retain both by doing regular resistance work with weights, bands or bodyweight. In doing so, we are helping our bodies to stay strong, resilient and healthy during mid-life and beyond.
My own experience of menopause was very challenging. I would wake several times during the night with frightening palpitations, I became very anxious and my energy levels, not to mention my confidence, hit rock bottom. I had several GP appointments for individual symptoms before I realised it was all menopause related.
Once I started to explore and incorporate some of the options available, I slowly began to piece myself back together and feel passionate about helping others to do the same in an open, non-judgmental way.
